My Britta leaks the very same way. Plastic fittings not holding up to water pressure…sure would be upset to have this problem under the sink…

I have had two PUR filters and had similar issues. Neither lasted more than 12 months. Looking for a different brand now. Any suggestions?

@fvfdfirefighter Right, I understand what you mean now. Did that I think – that worked for you? Nothing I tried worked. If I still had it, I’d try again.

before u put the adapter in

  4. mjbiren on January 18, 2011 at 9:24 am

  5. fvfdfirefighter on January 18, 2011 at 10:01 am

yea the brita version does too. i fixed it perfectly by replacing the plastic faucet threading adapter with a metal one and 2 good rubber rings. i used a wrench to get it good and tight but itll hold and still rotates via a lower rotary joint in the device.

These things are crap, mine leaks like that too.
My mom thinks I broke it, so I’m grounded now:/

Nice to see I’m not the only one!

This is EXACTLY how mine leaks. I’ve had mine for a year. I loved this filter, such a shame it hasn’t lasted.

Mine leaks like this, only much worse. Water sprays out all over the place. This is the third replacement unit for me. The problem with ours is just the little screened washer that is under the big plastic nut. I filled out their contact form on their website, begging for help with getting more washers, but got no response. I called them, and the wait wasn’t too long on hold, and they promised to send 2 washers, and it will “only” take 2 – 3 weeks!

  11. bevsap on January 18, 2011 at 1:13 pm

The neck under the faucet nut is cracked and can’t be fixed. They should all be recalled. JUNK

  12. shastasladybear on January 18, 2011 at 1:42 pm

    Mine too! Same leak!

  13. Whipernator on January 18, 2011 at 2:19 pm

I have the exact same problem, though to a much greater extent than in the video. Hmm, think I’ll check on the box and warranty paperwork. We still have a ‘fridge filter’, but find this more convenient when filtering water for coffee, fish tank, etc.

Well, at least we did before it started leaking.

  14. mjbiren on January 18, 2011 at 2:21 pm

You’re supposed to “use up” the filters….

  15. 1dymphna1 on January 18, 2011 at 2:43 pm

i’ve gone through 3 filters…don’t waste you time or money….wanna call them? it’s 800.787.5463…good luck…i’ve been on hold for 45 minutes.

Same happened to me but I got a new one had no idea there was a warranty it was a fancy one with lights too :(

  17. IbraheemPasha on January 18, 2011 at 3:52 pm

    Mine leaks too.

  18. SuPaFly43218 on January 18, 2011 at 4:21 pm

Sure, its the same one as yours. I need to wait for my g/f to get home, shes the one with the video camera. Mine would leak as yours does but if you simple tighten it by pulling twisting the filter counter-clockwise it should work fine.

  19. mjbiren on January 18, 2011 at 5:07 pm

Can you post video or a picture? I’d like to see what yours looks like.

  20. SuPaFly43218 on January 18, 2011 at 5:09 pm

that sucks that you guys have such problems with these things. I hear that like.. 90% of people hate these…but I have had mine on my faucet for YEARS and it has never… I repeat… NEVER LEAKED.

  21. Rioracer916 on January 18, 2011 at 5:55 pm

These faucet filters are a rip-off. We’re returning ours to Costco on Monday.

  22. pitbullcp on January 18, 2011 at 6:41 pm

I have the exact same problem

  26. BIRDANGAL on January 18, 2011 at 8:56 pm

COOL! I LIKE THE RUBAER BAND IDU NEET:)

  27. logos2600 on January 18, 2011 at 9:32 pm

@rainyday13 My first PUR faucet filter did that. My second one does something like the guy in this video. Both started happening only a couple months after buying. DO NOT BUY THESE FIXTURES use under-sink and pitchers, trust me

  28. mjbiren on January 18, 2011 at 10:23 pm

That is a lot of filters to use up. You could sell them on CL.

  29. polar2bear on January 18, 2011 at 10:52 pm

Mine leaks in a similar manner. You have to lift it up for it not to leak. Good idea with the rubber bands to hold it up. It does not fix the issue on mine unfortunately. Too bad I still have six filters to use up… :-(

  30. rainyday13 on January 18, 2011 at 11:44 pm

Now we just need a fix for the ones like mine that shoot water six feet across the kitchen from the cracks in the plastic housing.

  31. bevsap on January 19, 2011 at 12:37 am

It is a piece of shit

  32. mjbiren on January 19, 2011 at 12:38 am

    Glad I could help out.

  33. shastasladybear on January 19, 2011 at 1:23 am

Thanks! You know what? It worked on mine too!
    Cool quick fix.
Rubber bands come in handy sometimes! But the thing is still a piece of junk! Next stop for me, Aquasana.
